According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on the afternoon of May 21, 2026, near Stewart Road in the Silverton area. Investigators report that Rothwell was traveling in a vehicle with two others when a second vehicle pulled alongside them on the northbound lanes, and gunfire was suddenly exchanged.
During the shooting, Robert sustained at least one gunshot wound. In the moments that followed, the vehicle he was in lost control and crashed into a guardrail, adding to the chaos witnessed by drivers along the highway.
